OK. Now its official.

The Bush Administration doesn't give a damn. We always suspected that they never did, but now we know for sure.

The Scooter commutation is a blanket FU to everyone that opposes or disagrees with them. Opposing views don't matter. The law doesn't matter. Nothing matters. Fuck em all. You can just see the adolescent rebellion oozing out of every crack and seam in the White House facade.

"OH YEAH! I'll show you!!"

Well brace yourselves. It's going to get a lot worse.

With each passing day, Bush's fantasy of a Churchillian legacy and historical vindication will slip farther away. His poll numbers will keep falling. His pander machine will sputter and die. His attempts to demonize his enemies will fall even flatter. Not only will his enemies be unscathed - they will even begin to mock him.

"No one messes with the Decider. Hey, stop laughing"

His last hope for legitimate legislation - immigration reform - is DOA. His dreams for Republican Hispanics are in the dust. The Republican party is dying around him - or with him - or actually because of him.

"Follow me guys! ... guys? ... guys?"

When his administration leaves office, there won't be cushy consulting jobs. Most of them won't have any clout even with Republicans. I predict that at least one white house senior staffer will be on food stamps within 5 years.

There's nothing left.

Bush, Cheney, Rove and the neocons can't possibly withstand this assault on their self-image. They will have to strike back in the juvenile, petulant manner that is their hallmark - like trapped rats - but even more vicious.

They will fight every piece of constructive legislation.

"If you won't pass what we want, we won't let you pass anything. Na Na Na Na Na"

They will trash every Democrat on the most hideous personal level. They will trash talk every foreign adversary. Every favored contractor will get a going-away present. Every corporate contributor will get a windfall or shield from righteous scrutiny. If there is a federal agency that the Democrats or anyone else likes, they will gut it. If a part of the government still works (hard to believe), they will break it.

"You think you can do better - let's see you try"

They will appoint the worst idiots to every lifetime post and 10 year term that they can find. Actually that's a give because only the worst of idiots would accept a position from this nutjob administration. They will fire every competent worker they can identify. They will dismantle as many viable programs as they can find and they will sign long term contracts on as many useless boondoggles as they can conjure up.

"Let's trash the place!"

Most of all, they will beg, borrow or steal to keep up the surge in Iraq. Bush will do everything the unitary executive's powers allow to make sure that the totality of that catastrophe, like some big boiling turd, is dropped straight in the lap of his successor.

"See how do you like them apples!"

They will bust up the joint and leave their piss to mark their manhood - just before they get tossed out.
