22 of My Best Years and This Is What I Get

Thu Jan 31, 2008 at 12:27:56 PM PDT

This is not a poor JRE, and poor me diary. Yes, I was really sad yesterday.
This is about what I get after 22 years of putting my heart and soul into one of the most complicated jobs I'll ever have. I need to share what I was handed last night in one of my darker moments.
If you will, give me a moment to share about that job below the fold.

I Cried Tonight

Tue Jul 04, 2006 at 10:45:10 PM PDT

No, I couldn't think of a flashy title, just the plain, hard, truth.  After working a twelve hour day I met my husband for our local fireworks display, an event I have enjoyed since childhood. As a child and for many adult years I would sit on the 4th of July and reflect on my gratitude to live in this country, and the courage of the men who were responsible for our Declaration of Independence.
Tonight I sat back in my lawn chair scanning the skyline for the first burst of lights, and when they came flying up into the night sky my tears came flowing.

Fascism is already rooted here-see the proof

Wed Apr 13, 2005 at 10:31:57 PM PDT

Dr. Laurence W. Britt has published a piece describing the  14 Characteristicics of Fascism .
For the purpose of this perspective, I will consider the following regimes: Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Franco's Spain, Salazar's Portugal, Papadopoulos's Greece, Pinochet's Chile, and Suharto's Indonesia. To be sure, they constitute a mixed bag of national identities, cultures, developmental levels, and history. But they all followed the fascist or protofascist model in obtaining, expanding, and maintaining power. Further, all these regimes have been overthrown, so a more or less complete picture of their basic characteristics and abuses is possible.

Analysis of these seven regimes reveals fourteen common threads that link them in recognizable patterns of national behavior and abuse of power. These basic characteristics are more prevalent and intense in some regimes than in others, but they all share at least some level of similarity.

Mengele appointed to head EPA

Wed Mar 23, 2005 at 09:09:50 PM PDT

How could we not have thought that Nazi type medical research wouldn't follow suit with all the other atrocities of the Bush era?  Stephen Johnson, Bush's nominee for head of EPA must have used Mengele as a mentor. Johnson is advocating testing pesticides on children.
...in October of last year, Johnson strongly supported a study in which infants will be monitored for health impacts as they undergo exposure to known toxic chemicals for a two year period. The Children's Environmental Exposure Research Study, dubiously known as CHEERS, will analyze how chemicals can be ingested, inhaled, or absorbed by children ranging from infants to three year olds. The study will analyze 60 infants and toddlers in Duval County, Florida who are routinely exposed to pesticides in their homes. Yet the E.P.A. acknowledges that pesticide exposure is a documented risk factor for some types of childhood cancer and the early onset of asthma.

IRS's role in gagging free speech

Wed Feb 09, 2005 at 07:50:26 AM PDT

Prior to the election in November numerous churches and denominations that claim non-profit status were
denouncing
the Democratic platform and John Kerry. The NAACP stated their opinions also
Addressing the delegates, Bond said, "...The passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 marked the beginning of the dependence of the Republican Party on the politics of racial division to win elections and gain power. By playing the race card in election after election, they've appealed to the dark underside of democracy and equality. They preach racial neutrality and practiced racial division."

But they are paying a price for their First Amendment rights....
